“September, 23, 2014 – What would happen if we all decided to love and let ourselves be loved without any limitations? Infinite While It Lasts, a play conceived by Group .BR and inspired by the works of the founding father of the Bossa Nova, Brazilian poet and composer Vinicius De Moraes, explores this idea of uninhibited love, no matter how temporary.
After Infinite’s successful run at Nublu last year, which earned Group .BR’s Thiago Felix an Innovative Theatre Award nomination for Outstanding Choreography/Movement and a grant from NALAC, the company is bringing the play back for a second season, this time at new East Village club Studio 151. The venue makes for a laidback theatre experience that invites guests to get comfortable and socialize amidst the performance. Shows will run October 2nd-26th.
Conceived by Andressa Furletti and directed by Debora Balardini and Thiago Felix, Infinite While It Lasts coincides with Group .BR’s mission of bringing Brazilian culture to New York City through the performing arts. Performed in Portuguese with English subtitles, Infinite depicts the essence of Vinicius traveling from one actor to another, taking the audience on a journey through Vinicius’ 9 marriages. All of these heart-wrenching stories are expressed through the use of physical theatre and movement, and are performed in front of a live band.
Throughout his career, Vinicius De Moraes conveyed a fearlessness when it comes to love. He knew that every love in his life would probably not last forever, but still believed in giving into that love wholeheartedly. With Infinite While It Lasts, Group .BR takes you on an emotional journey of what happens when you live and love completely, not taking anything for granted.
